On Saturday, Danbury Rugby Football Club hosted the Connecticut Yankees. The Mad Hatters continued the dominant performance that they have exhibited throughout the spring, defeating the Yankees 47-14. Mario won Man of the Match honors.

The win put Danbury Rugby at an impressive 13 – 1 record for the season, including First Place showings in tournaments in Michigan and Virginia Beach. Sean McNeal earned Man of the Season honors.

WCSU Alumni Game

The WCSU Alumni took on the current West Conn team at Danbury Rugby’s home field at Mill Ridge on Saturday. The Alumni, comprised mostly of current Danbury Mad Hatters, defeated the college squad, but WCSU proved to have the talent and heart that the Danbury Rugby Football Club will welcome in the coming years. Victory over Valley

On Saturday, Danbury Rugby traveled to Beacon, NY to take on Hudson Valley. After a close, back-and-forth first half, the Mad Hatters poured it on in the second half and ended up winning 50 – 20.

Madness at the Beach

This past weekend, Danbury Rugby traveled to Virginia Beach to participate in the Tidewater International Tournament. On Saturday, in an emotional and hard-fought start of the tournament, the Mad Hatters defeated Washington 19-17 and the Virginia Beach Old Boys 39-10. On Sunday, DRFC met Troop for the championship. Thin in numbers but deep in heart, the Hatters defeated Troop 54-12 to claim first place.

‘Hatters Win Home Opener

On Saturday, March 31, the Danbury Madhatters had their home opener against Albany Rugby. After a hard-fought game, Danbury came out on top 15-10. Spanky earned the game ball with consistently tough play throughout the game, playing an integral part to the victory.

A Good Start

         On Feb. 18, Danbury Rugby proudly participated in the eighteenth annual Kalamazoo Snowball Ten’s Tournament in Kalamazoo, MI. The Mad Hatters allowed only one try in four games, scoring twenty-four times on their way to victory.
